Families enjoy post-present activities on Christmas

Newswatch 16's Jack Culkin spoke with folks in Lackawanna County who spent the rest of their holiday capitalizing on the warm temperatures and clear skies.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — Clear skies and warm temperatures on Christmas Day led families in Dunmore to stretch their legs and test out some new holiday gifts.

"I'm flying a drone, well, my dad got it for Christmas," said Alexander Schultheis, Doylestown.

Alexander Schultheis watched on as his father, Matthew, flew his new drone.

A luxury, he says, is all thanks to the unusually warm winter weather.

"I wish there was snow. But it's good to visit family, see people you don't see all the time," said Matthew Schultheis.

As the sun went down, others hopped in their cars to drive through Nay Aug Park, where Christmas lights are shining bright.

"Last year, we found out the music was rigged to match the board here, and that was enough for us to keep coming back and see what else would happen," said Nancy Spader, Scranton.

For Nancy Spader of Scranton, this is only her second time seeing the lights at Nay Aug.

A new Christmas tradition she thinks many others will pick up.

"I think they have added a tremendous amount more of the lights, and I like the new energy-efficient light bulbs that make it possible for them to run them," said Spader.
