OLYPHANT, Pa. — A big part of Easter for many is filling baskets, and in Lackawanna County, those baskets had the opportunity to be blessed.
The annual blessing took place this afternoon at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Olyphant.
Folks could bring the baskets they planned to give as gifts and get them blessed.
"We've been fasting from meats and dairy products all throughout Lent. And now we're coming to the end of Lent. We're celebrating Easter, and so we have a big feast," said Fr. Nestor Iwasiw, Ss. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Dozens of baskets were blessed at the event in Lackawanna County.
