Fire damages home in Taylor

Flames were coming from the top of the home when firefighters arrived.

TAYLOR, Pa. — Crews battled a house fire on South Main Street in Taylor Friday evening.

The fire was called in around 8pm, just down the street from the Taylor Community Center at the intersection of South Main and Hancock Street.

When crews arrived, flames were shooting out from the top of the house.

Smoke from the fire was visible from blocks away and could even been seen from the parking lot at Newswatch 16.

According to Taylor Borough Fire Chief Wes Jones, it took about two hours to put out the flames and fully knock down the fire.

The chief says the State Police Fire Marshal will be on scene tomorrow morning to determine a cause for the fire.

No one was reported to be injured. The damage to the home was severe, and it may be a complete loss.

Crews from Taylor, Moosic, Duryea, Old Forge, and Chinchilla helped to put out the fire.
