LOWER TOWAMENSING TOWNSHIP -- Despite the warm weather, folks hit the slopes for a cause Sunday in Carbon County.

The annual Teddy Bedrossian Ski-A-Thon was held at Blue Mountain Resort near Palmerton.

The fundraiser benefits the Elwyn Davidson School in Allentown. It’s a non-profit school for students with physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Dr. Edward Bedrossian organizes the event every year in memory of his son.

“I had a son who was a special needs kid who went to Elwyns,” explained Bedrossian. “The doctor told us at three months he would only live to be four months, but he ended up living to be 18 years. That's because of the great care he got at Elwyn."

Sunday marked the sixth year for the ski-a-thon in Carbon County.
