Father of homicide suspect charged

Francis Moyer faces terroristic threat charges after telling police he had explosives inside his home.

LEHIGHTON, Pa. — Terroristic threat charges have been filed against a man in Carbon County.

Investigators say Francis Moyer, 68, the father of homicide suspect Zak Moyer, told police last month that he had explosives inside his home in Lehighton.

A bomb squad found a device that was inert, meaning it was not a threat.

Francis Moyer's son, Zak Moyer, is locked up on homicide charges.

According to police, the younger Moyer got into a fight with Edward Whitehead Jr. and attacked him with a knife and chainsaw.

Whitehead Jr. later died.
