Fire spreads to multiple houses in Carbon County

Crews were called to a house fire along the 200 block of E. Railroad Street in Nesquehoning just after 7 a.m. Sunday. It quickly spread to two neighboring homes.

NESQUEHONING, Pa. — Firefighters coaxed a dog to safe ground out of a burning home in Carbon County.

Crews were called to a house fire along the 200 block of E. Railroad Street in Nesquehoning just after 7 a.m. Sunday.

The fire quickly spread to neighboring homes on each side.

Nesquehoning Hose Company #1's chief tells Newswatch 16 the house where it started was deemed a total loss.

A family is displaced from one of the other houses hit by flames; the one on the opposite side has smoke and heat exposure damage.

In total, two pets were found dead. Firefighters rescued a third one, a dog, from a second-story roof. That dog was taken to the vet for a checkup.

Two people who lived in the affected homes were taken to the hospital to be treated.

Everyone else made it out okay.

The VFW in Nesquehoning posted on Facebook that their doors are open to any firefighters or victims of Sunday's fire. The post is located at 300 E. Center St. in the borough. 

The VFW is open for any & all firefighters and victims who need water or need to use the bathroom or stay warm!❤️💙

The VFW is also collecting donations of men's size 2X shirt and 40/34 pants for a member of their post who lost everything in the fire.

A state police fire marshal has been called in to investigate that multi-house fire in Carbon County.
