MCADOO ---After losing a young girl to fire in McAdoo last month. The community decided to help Madison Arner's family any way they could.

So, Fly High With Madison was born, a day-long benefit with music, raffles, games and more.

Folks gave generously and raised about $3,000 for Madison's family.

The six-year old died after the fire at her family home, directly across the street from the fire department.

Then, just when the benefit seemed to be helping, the family says someone took that money.

"I know someone came over and asked if i saw the money bag because I'm helping with the whole function, I said no, next thing i knew they said someone stole it because it's all missing," said family friend Jennifer Wesner.

"Everybody here did a phenomenal job raising almost three thousand dollars and someone took the money out of the back of the van here and left with it, " said Madison's sister Chastity Reed.

Chastity and everyone at the benefit was heartbroken. The family had lost everything in the fire and now this theft of donations.

The fast moving fire trapped Madison in the home late last month. She later died at the hospital.

Now the care and support of a community in their time of need has been undone by a reported thief. Someone who took the money, intended for a family still grieving for their loss.

"My family has nothing, we have nothing, that's the only thing we have and someone took it," said Reed.

The family says there was some money that was left over for Madison's family.

Organizers of the benefit say McAdoo police have a suspect and will continue to investigate the theft in Schuylkill County.
