According to police, at least five vehicles were stuck in standing water on Northampton Street in Edwardsville, as well as at the Gateway Shopping Center.
Despite flood waters quickly receding, workers and bystanders told Newswatch 16 that several businesses in the lower end of the plaza had several inches of flood water seep in.
Authorities said there were reports of flash flooding in several other communities, including Kingston and Nanticoke.
Luzerne County 911 dispatchers told Newswatch 16 that police and firefighters will monitor Solomon Creek in south Wilkes-Barre overnight, to determine if the flood gates need to be setup.
