PARADISE TOWNSHIP — A federal jury Thursday afternoon found a municipality in the Poconos responsible for violating a man’s constitutional rights in 2007 which then resulted in the man’s death.
According to the attorney for the estate of Edward Rose, 65, of Paradise Township, a federal jury found that two Barrett township police officers, unlawfully arrested Rose for driving under the influence in August 2007.
The jury found Rose, who had a pre-existing heart condition, died of a heart attack from the emotional distress the officers put him through during the arrest.
