ARCHBALD -- Archbald Police Chief Tim Trently and Patrolman Brian Munley never know what to expect when they're on the job: writing tickets, making arrests or in this case, delivering a baby.

"There's been a lot of bad stuff happening lately and none of us really want to come to work anymore but we know that's what we have to do and then we have something like this happen so we're proud,” said Chief Trently.

The pair was called to a home on McAndrew Drive Monday afternoon. When they arrived, a man was yelling for them to hurry inside.

"As I start walking up the steps, I hear Munley say, "Trently, she's on the way! She's coming right now!"

Before long, Chief Trently and Officer Munley had helped deliver a baby girl.

"It's my first time and I realized that a kid was just born right in front of me, so it was pretty good. With all the bad things going on with police, it's actually good to be able to have something good to come out of work with,” said Patrolman Munley.

Baby and mom were taken to Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton as neighbors looked on.

"We watched them bring it out in a little pink towel. It was a baby girl. It was so cute. It was so cute!" said Rachael Esgro of Archbald.

This isn't the first time these two have been in the spotlight. They helped save a little boy from choking to death two years ago.

And Chief Trently has actually delivered two other babies during his time on the force.

"One was in a bathtub. I remember another one was on a living room floor. Twenty-eight years on the job, this is my third delivery, so I'm a pro now I guess,” said Chief Trently.
