BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Retail giants Walmat and ALDI on Wednesday announced plans to reduce the prices of several traditional Thanksgiving staples in an effort to allow customers to bring more savings to the table.

Walmart said it will offer "unprecedented" savings and two Thanksgiving meal shopping options that will satisfy customers who love to cook from scratch and customers who prefer more a convenient, ready-to-bake approach.

The Arkansas-based retailer said 92% of its customers have expressed some level of concern about inflation and how it will impact their holiday celebrations. As a result, Walmart said it is "doubling down on its commitment to saving customers more money" by "removing inflation to offer a traditional Thanksgiving meal on customers’ favorite brands at an even lower price than last year, making it even easier and more affordable for customers to set their holiday table so they can focus on what matters: spending time with loved ones."

ALDI said its customers will see price reductions of up to 50% on items across the store, beginning on November 1 and lasting through the entire holiday season. These items include seasonal favorites like gravy, potatoes, green beans, cranberries and pumpkin pie, as well as staples such as butter and flour, the grocery giant said.

"With these extra savings on top of ALDI every day low prices, the retailer expects shoppers to afford to invite three more guests to the annual feast, so everyone can take part in the holiday fun without blowing the budget," ALDI said in its announcement.

The savings range on everything from side ingredients like gravy mix, cranberries and brioche rolls to charcuterie essentials like cheese and crackers to cooking essentials like flour, pecan halves, pumpkin pie mix, and Irish butter, ALDI said.

“Thanksgiving is all about gratitude, and we’re so grateful for our many loyal customers from coast-to-coast,” said Dave Rinaldo, president of ALDI. “With inflation still looming, we're providing shoppers extra relief to make the holidays a time for celebration, not stress. What’s served on the Thanksgiving table is just as important as who’s sitting around it, so ALDI is delivering big savings on key items so there’s always room for more guests.”

Walmart's holiday offer also begins on November 1 and runs through December 26, the company said.

"Walmart’s Thanksgiving meal includes customers’ favorites and fixings including many national brands, from turkey (for under $1/lb.!) and ham to stuffing and pumpkin pie," Walmart said in the announcement. "Best of all, customers can effortlessly purchase these meal baskets with a single click on Walmart.com or the Walmart app for quick and easy pickup or delivery in as soon as 30 minutes and up to 90 minutes."

“Saving money remains a top priority for our customers, and this holiday season, we’re building on the investments we made last year knowing they need it now more than ever,” said John Furner, president and chief executive officer, Walmart U.S. “We’re better positioned than ever before to deliver on our purpose, to help customers save money and live better, especially during the most exciting time of the year. We’re ready to deliver the omni shopping experience we know our customers want and need, it’s going to be a great holiday season at Walmart.”
