CLINTON TOWNSHIP — A man was killed in an explosion while working at a car repair shop Monday in Wyoming County.
The coroner said an autopsy was done Tuesday on Lucas Mitchell, 26, of Hop Bottom.
Investigators said Mitchell was working at Clark’s Garage in Clinton Township, near Factoryville around 4:30 p.m. Monday, trying to cut a top off a 55-gallon drum. The drum previously held methanol, and sparks from the cutting torch mixed with that methanol causing a blast.
The lid of the drum hit Mitchell in the head.
He died at the hospital.
