Commissioners from both Snyder and Union Counties approved a plan to merge the 911 systems of the two counties.
All 911 calls would go to the Snyder County Emergency Services Center near Selinsgrove.
Officials say no jobs will be lost, and in fact, they expect more dispatchers to be hired.
The merger is expected to take about two years to complete.
Officials say the move will save Snyder and Union Counties more than $1 million over five years.
