HUGE FLOOD PROTECTION – Jackie Lewandoski
The US Army Corp of Engineers built the Beltzville Dam to help control potential flood levels downstream in the Lehigh River. The Lehigh River runs through the heart of Allentown. See how it was built and travel down into the belly of the Control Tower. Maintaining the lake level for recreation while carefully discharging water to maintain healthy stream temperatures are key functions after it’s pledge to protect property and lives. They even tells us how we can get almost real-time text alerts from streams of our choice as they rise toward flood stage. Click Here to view this feature.
