MOUNT POCONO -- When it comes to winter storm preparations, we found lots of folks who made stopping at the local liquor store one of their top priorities before possibly getting snowed in.

Bread, milk, and eggs are fully stocked at ShopRite in Mount Pocono.

But there's one more essential item shoppers are grabbing before this winter storm hits the area: booze, and lots of it.

"I wanted to make sure that if we do get snowed in somewhat, I'd have all my favorite things and my family's," said Karan Oleckna of Pocono Pines.

Oleckna isn't alone. People have been in and out of the store since Friday morning, picking up an assortment of spirits to enjoy while snowed in.

"We figured we'd have cocktail hour."

Shoppers say they're stocking up on booze a little more than usual for this winter storm, partially because it falls on a Saturday.

Beer sales have been up at Mount Pocono Beverage with a big rush expected when people get out of work.

At Sorrenti's Winery in Cherry Valley, wine sales have tripled in the past couple of days.

"There were a lot of people coming in and they were buying not just one bottle, maybe two, three bottles of wine," said manager Karen Sorrenti. "They know they're going to be stuck in on Saturday."

For anyone wondering how much wine to buy, a map being shared on social media could help. It replaces expected snowfall totals with how many bottles you should pick up.

"I'm going to be stuck in the house all day, so if I'm going to be stuck in the house all day, nothing like being stuck with a glass of wine," said Jennifer Granit of Brodheadsville.

The real snowfall total maps are showing Stroudsburg is expecting significant snow.
