MOUNT POCONO, Pa. -- Authorities are asking for help finding the vandals who knocked several railroad cars off the tracks in Monroe County.

Photos from the Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad show the damage done at their properties near Pocono Summit and Mount Pocono.

One railroad car still sits on its side off the tracks in Mount Pocono.

Authorities believe vandals knocked this car and several others off the tracks.

"My grandson from New Jersey comes here, and sometimes we walk around down by the tracks, and we see the wagons. It was strange just laying on the side," said Mount Pocono resident Edward Szewczyk.

The vandalism happened back in July, but now, Pocono Mountain Regional Police are asking for help finding whoever is responsible.

The train cars belong to the Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad. The company has property a few hundred feet from where the cars derailed.

"The individual or suspects removed the braking system on every rail car and the air braking system as well, so there was some knowledge of the components of the rail cars to, obviously, disengage the braking system," said Det. Ryan Venneman, Pocono Mountain Regional Police.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police are asking anyone with information to call, but the railroad is offering a $10,000 reward if there is an arrest.

Jessica Davis lives by the tracks. She says there's always kids and ATVs going through that area.

"I am not 100 percent shocked if someone may have done something to tamper with it just to be silly, but it's unfortunate," Davis said.

The damage is about $300,000.
