POLK TOWNSHIP -- An emotional opening ceremony was held at an old hotel that is now a haven for veterans in Monroe County.
The former Jonas Hotel near Brodheadsville now has a new set of guests.
Paul's House is a facility for veterans in need of a place to live and hundreds were on hand for the facility's dedication on Sunday.
The sanctuary will offer more than just beds and meals, but a variety of services to help veterans get back on their feet.
"People are neglecting the veteran's who rightly deserve what we went in and served our country for, it's a shame it comes to that, but our vets are vets and we stick together," said Lee Baker, Air Force Veteran.
The facility is dedicated to the memory of Major Paul Syverson III who was killed in action in Iraq back in 2004.
Volunteers started the renovations in July on the former hotel in Monroe County.
