EXETER -- Former members of a fire company in Luzerne County are under investigation because of missing money. A search warrant was served Monday in Exeter to gather evidence.

A search warrant filed and served Monday involving the Exeter Hose Company Number One is the second search warrant filed in the case.

The Luzerne County district attorney's office wants more bank records from T.J. and Stephanie McNeil. The DA’s office is looking into them for possible theft from the fire company.

A search warrant filed earlier this year looked at the pair's bank records from 2012.

Now, a new search warrant is going back even further, to 2007.

“Our hose company is anxious to find out exactly what is going on,” said Don Skursky, the company's fire chief. He believes it's missing about $100,000 and says a fire truck that hasn't run since January is an example of how the alleged mismanagement of funds is affecting them, because now they can't afford to fix it.

“We owed money for utilities. They shut off our water. They shut off our gas, our electrical,” Skursky said.

Stephanie McNeil is the fire company's former treasurer. She was ordered to pay $14,000 in restitution for a fraud case involving state benefits.

Meanwhile, Chief Skursky said changes have been made and checks and balances are now in place.

“We've been trying to regain the trust of the community,” he said.

The Luzerne County district attorney's office says investigating fraud claims can be time-consuming. No charges have been filed.
