WILKES-BARRE -- If you're looking for some good food at great prices, look no further than Luzerne County.

Restaurant Week, when restaurants offer special deals, kicked off Friday in Wilkes-Barre.

The signs are up and the diners are out as more than 20 restaurants are gearing up for a week of big specials. It's Restaurant Week in the Diamond City--when eating establishments offer dining deals.

For those grabbing a quick drink at Franklin's on Public Square, one of the restaurants participating in the event, they think this is great for the city.

“Places like this and every place else is promoting good business. People are coming out. I came out. I just got out of work and the first place I go is here,” said John Kearns.

At the King of King Gyros, workers say Restaurant Week is a win for all involved.

“It's going to bring more people out. We have specials so it will promote more people to come in, cheaper prices, draws people and we already have a good clientele,” said Steven Fleischmann.

Servers at Rodano's say this will draw in new customers and with the potential of having more turnover, hopefully more tips.

“It's a great opportunity for people to get more acquainted with our restaurant, see our new specials. Any time people come in the door it's a good idea,” said Megan Nafus.

“I’ll probably take this one out over here a couple times this week, so she'll reap the benefits of Restaurant Week,” said Michael Munoz.

“People get to come out and sample food from different restaurants,” said Allen Brady, a cook at Rodano’s. “We have a very wide array of menu here, very good food as well as the other restaurants in the area do.”

And Rodano's has a suggestion of something you should try: the Mac Patty Melt.

“Yes, we have deep fried mac and cheese squares with boom-boom sauce, cooper cheese. It's very tasty,” said Brady.

Restaurant Week runs through Sunday, September 27 in Wilkes-Barre.
