HAZLETON, Pa. -- A teenage girl is recovering after police say her father accidentally shot her through the wall of their home in Hazleton.
Police responded after 1 p.m. Sunday to a call that a 13-year-old girl had been accidentally shot on the 500 block of Alter Street.
Police say the girl's father--only identified as a 35-year-old man--was getting ready for work as a security guard when he accidentally fired off a round.
The bullet went through a piece of furniture and a wall, hitting the girl while she was in the bathroom.
The victim is expected to be OK.
According to police, the father did have a permit for the gun. Investigators say charges could be filed if it is determined that he was reckless or negligent.
