Pedestrian hit and killed by train in Luzerne County

The train made a stop in Plains Township where the victim was found and pronounced dead by the coroner.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — A train struck and killed a pedestrian around 3 p.m. on Thursday in Luzerne County.

Authorities said the train was coming from Pittston Township and at some point, hit a person.

The train made a stop in Plains Township. That's where the victim was found and pronounced dead by the coroner.

The victim has been identified as Gabriel Albertelli, 19, of Plains Township.

Plains Township police and the Norfolk Southern Railroad are both investigating.
