SCRANTON -- The Little Sisters of the Poor kicked off St. Patrick's season with their third annual St. Patrick's Day celebration and dinner in Scranton Sunday.
Folks gathered for a special Mass which included Irish songs and bagpipes.
That was followed by dinner and entertainment at Holy Family Residence on Adams Avenue.
The event also serves as a fundraiser for the residence, where the Little Sisters care for the elderly who have limited funds.
"It's very important for us because we need the people around us to help us. Our congregation, we go out begging. That's one of our ways to get money. And the help with the people around us because without them we cannot do anything on our own," Sr. Theresa Louisa Wooching said.
The proceeds will help the Little Sisters replace nightstands in the residents' rooms.
