Ceremony held in Scranton to honor police officers killed in the line of duty

Pandemic pushes the ceremony virtual for second year in a row.

SCRANTON, Pa. — A ceremony took place Tuesday to honor Scranton police officers killed in the line of duty.

For the second year in a row, the Scranton police memorial was held virtually because of the pandemic.

Chief Leonard Namiotka and Mayor Paige Cognetti laid a wreath in front of the fallen police officers memorial outside Scranton police headquarters.

A member of the fraternal order of police read the names of 11 fallen officers, which date back to 1889.
