Scranton Northeast Intermediate to reopen after remediation of lead, asbestos

Officials say all remediation efforts are expected to be complete by the time students return to school.

SCRANTON, Pa. — The Scranton School Board confirmed Monday that remediation of lead and asbestos is finished at Northeast Intermediate School.

Officials expect all work to be wrapped up by the time students have to return to their schools.

The Northeast Intermediate was closed in late January after lead and asbestos were found.

Work to remove contaminants from the ventilation system in the building started soon after.
