Amanda's other tips include: ask store employees about any extra specials for Mother's Day, freebies, or discounts. Be sure to also check their social media sites like Facebook and Instagram for "secret coupon" offers.

According to the National Retail Federation, some of the hottest items this year by popularity are jewelry, special outings (dinners/spa days), flowers, and gift cards.
