FELL TOWNSHIP -- Plenty of fundraisers have pony rides, but one in Lackawanna County was a bit different with police horses from the Lackawanna County Sheriff's Office.
Anyone could hop on Byrd, Alex, or Charlie at the benefit at Merli-Sarnoski Park near Carbondale on Sunday.
Organizers want to educate people about the mounted unit and help fund its programs.
"The money helps the mounted unit, maintaining the horses and any extras, also the free riding camp that we do for the children. It goes towards our supplies and different things that we do with the kids," said program coordinator Dawn Davis.
Besides the chance to meet the horses, the $5 admission fee included a bounce house, a hayride, hay maze, and petting zoo. There was a bake sale and raffles as well to help raise money for the mounted unit.
