SCRANTON -- A man who admitted to hitting a bridge in Scranton, causing more than a million dollars in damage will spend some time in jail.

A judge sentenced Eric Gower to three to 12 months in jail on work release plus two years probation.

Gower pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of the crash and hindering the investigation back in March.

The load he was hauling hit the bridge that carries Moosic Street over the Central Scranton Expressway. Gower still said in court Wednesday his boss Bob Bolus told him to change his story. Bolus denies the claim.

"Absolutely not, he knows the rules. He has his CDL. They all follow the rules. He didn't. He screwed up. He hit the bridge. He caused us a lot of problems. It is what it is," Bolus said.

Gower must turn himself in Friday to begin serving his sentence in Lackawanna County.
