BERWICK -- A piece of American history was officially welcomed back home in Columbia County.
Berwick held a welcome home parade Sunday afternoon for the Stuart light tank that returned to the borough last month.
Thousands of Stuart light tanks, called Stuies, were manufactured in Berwick in the 1940s to be used during World War II in Europe.
Community members raised money through a grassroots effort to get one of the tanks back to Berwick.
Organizers say they're excited to finally have Stuie back home for good.
"This was our history back during the war. The plant where they were made was such a huge factor to the war. It put us on Hitler's bomb list, so absolutely huge," Columbia County Commissioner Dave Kovach said.
The plan is to put the tank at the entrance to the industrial park where the former factory was.
