PENN FOREST TOWNSHIP -- Thousands turned out to recreate the Invasion of Normandy with paintball guns in Carbon County.

This weekend marks the 14th year for the event at Skirmish U.S.A. near Albrightsville.

Players are allowed to camp out for the weekend-long event and bring their own paintball tanks for the battle.

Owners of the venue say it's the largest and longest paintball event in the world.

"Before it was called the Invasion of Normandy, it was called D-Day, so when we add it all up it is also the longest running scenario game,” explained Sky Fogal, Co-owner of Skirmish U.S.A.

Participant John "Mad Kow" Holm added, "I sort of came here on a fluke with a friend, and we've been coming ever since 2003."

The event lasts through Sunday afternoon here in Carbon County.
