SELINSGROVE -- Gone too soon, that's what friends are saying about Colt Yorks, 17, of Selinsgrove.

The high school student died over the weekend after the car he was traveling in with his brother crashed on Interstate 80 near Albrightsville.

According to state police, the driver was Joseph Hanrahan.

The police report states the vehicle went off the right shoulder of the road, down an embankment where it overturned and hit a tree on the passenger side.

Investigators say Yorks died on impact. Both he and Hanrahan were wearing seat belts.

Friends say the two were on their way home from a concert in New York.

Kaylee Rishell can't believe her good friend is gone.

"No matter what he was going through, all he wanted to do was make other people happy. He would pass me in the hallways,  and even if I was having the worst day of my life, he would just look at me and be like, 'Hi, beautiful,'" Rishell said.

At Selinsgrove Area High School, grief counselors are on hand all week for students.

Assistant principal Brian Parise says Yorks had a bright future.

"I know he was aspiring to be an artist in the advertising program at our technical school next year and was really looking forward to utilizing his talents that way. He was definitely an individual along with a strength of character with a strong kind demeanor," Parise said.

The 17 year old was a member of the high school bowling team.

Emily Whipple, one of his teammates is selling shirts to help raise money for funeral costs. She says it's the least she can do to help her best friend's family.

"It didn't matter what he was going through. He was there to make sure everyone else was happy. That was like his main goal in life. He really accomplished that," Whipple said.

Joseph Hanrahan, the driver of the crash, is listed in fair condition at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help offset funeral costs for Colt Yorks.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
