JIM THORPE -- A federal appeals court declined to hear an appeal from the family of legendary athlete Jim Thorpe Wednesday. That means his remains will stay in Carbon County.
A federal court ruled last year a law protecting the remains of Native Americans doesn't apply in Thorpe's case.
The remains of the Olympic champion and pro football and baseball star were moved to Carbon County in the 1950s.
Two boroughs merged and adopted Thorpe's name in an effort to attract tourists.
