SCRANTON -- An overnight fuel spill closed Interstate 81 in both directions in Lackawanna County.
Crews tell Newswatch 16 a tractor-trailer crashed Friday morning around 1 a.m. in the southbound lanes near mile marker 191. I-81 is closed in both directions between the Clarks Summit interchange and North Scranton interchange.
No one was hurt in the wreck but the truck's diesel fuel spilled on the highway. I-81 is closed to give crews space to clean the spilled fuel.
Authorities set up detours to move traffic off the highway. They encourage drivers to find a different route until the interstate reopens. Troopers said the closure could remain in place for several hours.
