HUMMELSTON -- In Dauphin County, Officer Lisa Mearkle resigned from the Hummelstown Police Department after being suspended last year following a deadly shooting.
The borough expects to pay Mearkle $120,000 in severance. In return, she will drop all legal claims.
Mearkle was charged with murder after she shot and killed Luzerne County native, David Kassick, who was unarmed. She claimed it was self-defense.
A jury found Mearkle not guilty of the charge back in November.
