Amazon has announced Dash Buttons, an easy way for Amazon Prime subscribers to quickly order household items — and it’s all available at the push of a button.

Amazon’s ‘Dash Button’ Offers Ordering Convenience

While the timing of the announcement is a bit suspicious (only one day before April Fools’ Day), the product is apparently very real.

The Dash Button is linked to an item (like Bounty paper towels, Tide detergent, etc.) and is placed where you store the item.

When you’re running low, you can press the button to order more of the product. Once an order is placed, a notification is sent to your phone where you can cancel the order if the button was pushed on accident.

The button includes a reusable adhesive and a hook to allow you to “hang, stick, or place it right where you need it.”

Here’s the explanation from Amazon:

Dash Button is simple to set up. Use the Amazon app on your smartphone to easily connect to your home Wi-Fi network and select the product you want to reorder with Dash Button. Once connected, a single press automatically places your order. Amazon sends an order alert to your phone, so it’s easy to cancel if you change your mind. Unless you elect otherwise, Dash Button responds only to your first press until your order is delivered.

If you are an Amazon Prime member, you can request an invitation for the Dash Buttons.
