PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Schools in Pennsylvania will remain closed through the end of this academic year, Governor Tom Wolf said on Thursday.
The governor posted this video message.
The state had closed schools indefinitely in response to the coronavirus crisis.
Although schools are closed, teaching and learning may continue: schools are strongly encouraged to provide continuity of education for all students in the most appropriate and accessible ways possible, the governor's release said.
The Department of Education says it is going to work with districts to ensure graduating seniors will graduate this year, and it is also requiring districts to find ways to provide instruction and says that it's not enough to just review material. The state expects actual instruction of new material to take place.
