If you've been on Montage Mountain after a big game or a big concert you know traffic on Montage Mountain Road can vary anything between slow and stopped.

Now, after a long wait, crews are preparing to widen the stretch.

Construction workers preparing a section of Montage Mountain Road in Moosic are a sight for sore eyes for many drivers.

The location of some of the area's most popular activities, Montage Mountain Road can get jammed up for hours upon hours.

Montage Mountain is the home of the Shoppes at Montage, Cinemark Movie Complex, PNC Field and the Toyota Pavillion at Montage, not to mention plenty of homes located in the area.

"In the summer time with the concerts and baseball, it gets a little crazy," said Nadine Nealon of Lake Ariel. She works at the Shoppes at Montage and was excited to see work start. She's been the victim of snarled traffic too many times.

"It is exciting especially when you're sitting in traffic for hours trying to get home after an eight-hour shift. I'm sure everyone at the mountain is going to be happy too," Nealon added.

Others said they enjoy coming to the Montage Mountain area but only during certain times of the day.

"We usually come in the mornings except for a ball game and you know, that takes a day and a half to get out," said Joan Wilson of Wilkes-Barre.

"Well this is good, it's about time. Maybe it'll free things up a little bit and get us on (I)81 quicker," said Andrew Ellis of Plains.

The $750,000 construction project will create two new lanes for a total of five lanes.

It's funded with local and state dollars and expected to be complete by the end of July.
