It's going to be tough weekend for fire fighters in Meshoppen. They have to say goodbye to one of their own.
Volunteer firefighter Eddie Alemy, 24, of Meshoppen was a volunteer firefighter at the Meshoppen Fire Company in Wyoming County. He was killed in a car accident near Tunkhannock around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
His brother and sister said they still can't believe he's gone so suddenly.
"He was a good kid. He was a great uncle and a good friend and he played softball with me," said brother Bobby Alemy. "He had a lot of friends and. He loved life. I have a lot of questions that aren't going to get answered at night. I'm at a loss."
His sister said not having her brother around to share life stories with will be tough.
"No that he's gone I'm never going to see him grow up. He wanted kids and a family and now we're not going to see his laughing, smiling face," said sister Brandy Maginley.
The family said before his untimely death, Alemy lost both his mother and father over the past six years. He found joy by helping others through his local fire department.
One of Slemy's favorite duties was driving the ambulance. Other members of the fire department said he will be dearly missed.
"It's hard for them to lose one of their own. When they lose one it's like losing one of their own family members here, so yeah, it's been difficult," said cousin Malinda Gleason.
The family and the fire department plan a memorial service for Eddie Alemy on Sunday.
