Voters in Union County saws something new at the polls Tuesday to prevent the spread of the H1N1 virus.
At a polling place near Lewisburg there were hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes.
"I think it's a wonderful precaution. It's true I haven't thought about it but I'm very glad it's being done," said Douglas Candland.
Everyone that came to the voting site had the option to use hand sanitizer. Election officials said all 26 polling places in Union County were given sanitizers and wipes for H1N1 concerns.
"I think it's good to take precautions at the polling place but I didn't hesitate because of it," said Kris Szulanczyk.
"We wipe the screens down and we wipe equipment off. We offer the sanitizers to people when they come in. We've used them frequently during the morning," said election judge Bonnie Stahl.
Some said the extra measures are not needed.
"I think that there is less of a possibility getting it here than if you would go to McDonald's Burger King, Pizza Hut, all the places nobody worries about," said Julie Barna.
Election officials said they were also given pencils with rubber tips for those people who still felt uncomfortable touching the machines.
