A teenager was struck by a shotgun blast in Snyder County. Now police are investigating the shooting.
It was in the 900 block of Eighth Street in Selingrove where investigators said a 14-year-boy was shot by his 14-year-old friend.
"Pretty shocking because this is a really quiet neighborhood. I have only lived in this neighborhood for a few months everyone's really friendly. Pretty shocking," said Stan Casper.
Police sid it happened around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when one of the teenagers was visiting a friend at his house. For some reason one of the boys shot the other with a 20 gauge double barrel shotgun.
"The boy's father is a hunter and I thought that, it really shocked me," said neighbor Jim Forester.
"I keep my gun cabinet locked and the only time my boys ever handled them was when I was there. And I don't know if the father was home when this happened but like I said, accidents happen," added Forester.
The boy that was shot was taken to Geisinger Medical Center near Danville. The district attorney said the boy is doing well. He has not been identified.
The incident was reported by police as an accident. Mayor Pete Carroll sayid the incident could have been avoided and wants to make sure it doesn't happen again.
"We have safety locks that we hand out free. It's too late for this particular incident but I do want to let them we will exhaust all of these. If any one wants to come in they can have these to prevent this incident. It's a tragedy," said Mayor Carroll.
The case is still under investigation and as of now no charges have been filed.
