A crash Tuesday evening killed a man and closed part of Route 61 in Schuylkill County.
State police said around 8 p.m. a tractor-trailer and a pick-up truck crashed on Route 61 in North Manheim Township, near Schuylkill Haven. The crash happened in the area of Manheim Road. Troopers said the driver of the pick-up truck, James Hochgertel, 81, of Schuylkill Haven, was killed. Tro
According to state police, the pick-up was headed south on Route 61. Hochgertel tried to turn onto Manheim Road and the tractor trailer hit the pick-up. Hochgertel died at the scene.
Route 61 was closed for nearly four hours after the crash.
