There have been three arsons in less than a year in one Schuylkill County community. Some neighbors are on edge and investigators believe the fires could be connected.

The night sky lit up and the main drag was blocked in Llewellyn as firefighters battled flames at the abandoned Llewellyn Hotel.

Firefighters were credited with saving an occupied home next door. Pete Schultz lives there. "They did a good job, a real good job. They hosed it down. When I saw it burning I thought the house was going to go. It was going pretty good."

State police fire marshal John Burns was called in to investigate. As he went through the rubble word spread as to his findings.

"Definatly a set fire. There was power to this building but the homeowner that owned this place said he shut off all the circuit breakers and we just confirmed that just now," said Good Intent Fire Chief Mike Pothering.

Investigators are looking into two other arsons in the last nine months in Llewellyn. A vacant house was set on fire last year. That blaze jumped to an occupied home next door. Earlier, several nearby piles of tires were set on fire.

Three arsons in less than a year have neighbors talking.

"It's scary. I live four homes up from the fire. I live next to a vacant house. There is another vacant house across the street from us. It's scary!" said neighbor Shelia Nagy.

"It's a shame somebody is going around setting it. Something has to be done!" said neighbor Steve Nagy.

"Somebody is going around setting them. They have to get caught. Terrible, really terrible," said neighbor George Mikla.

Investigators said it's possible one person is responsible for all three arsons.
