New Year's Day is going to be a big day for Penn State when they play LSU in the Capital One Bowl.

There's a lot of practice leading up to the game, and a little bit of fun.

The Peabody Hotel is the official Penn State hotel in Orlando. That's where the players are staying as well as a bunch of fans. Even though it is the southern home for PSU this week, the Nittany Lions aren't the biggest stars staying there.

Every morning there's a mad scramble at the Peabody Hotel. The Peabody ducks take the elevator to the first floor, then they're off, down the red carpet in front of lines of fans, including the Penn State players.

They plop themselves into the lobby fountain for the day.

It may be the official Penn State hotel but the ducks steal the show from even the Nittany Lions themselves.

"Well we're here what does that say. We're here to watch ducks. Even though we want to watch the lion, it's ducks," said Bill Kralick of Jim Thorpe.

Some of the Penn State fans checking out the show are from Carbon County.

"That is so exciting. My friends have seen it before, but I haven't so this is something new for me," said Mary Ellen Hawk of Nesquehoning.

The ducks even have their own penthouse suite on the roof of the hotel where they spend their time when they're not putting on a show in the lobby.

Penn State running back Evan Royster even took video of the ducks on his phone. "You just kind of feel it. Everyone's around, they're cheering, they've got someone on the loudspeaker," Royster said. "Yeah, they go running down the red carpet. It's kind of a funny thing."

The ducks may be the stars at the hotel but of course the real stars of the week play football Friday and that's the reason Penn Staters are taking over the Peabody Hotel and many others.

"Oh, it's wonderful down here, just wonderful. It's like a second family down here," said Paul Eckhart of Palmerton. "That's a unique experience. Penn State fans are just one in a million. They just go out root for their team and support them. We are Penn State!"
