At a time when businesses are laying off employees, one company in central Pennsylvania is looking for a few good workers.

Hundreds turned out for the chance of a job at Moran Industries, a warehouse storage and shipping company in Watsontown.

Long lines ran through the Winding Brook Golf Course in Milton and everyone in line had the same goal in mind to land a job.

"We expected several people to show because of the economy. I don't know if we expected this many people. We're glad to have the turn out," said Sara LLoyd, CFO of Moran Industries. She explained the company is looking for as many as 100 workers to support their expanding business. Positions range from clerical workers to fork lift drivers but there is one thing Lloyd said she's looking for in each applicant.

"Experience and knowledge of warehousing, shipping and receiving. A lot people have that experience with businesses in the area," Lloyd said.

Donna Schaffer is looking for a production or factory job. She recently lost her job after Crest Homes, a Milton Modular Home Manufacturer closed. "I know it's not going to be like what we had at Crest. I mean if could come out with a job that would be awesome," Schaffer said.

Michael Miles of Montgomery said the clock is ticking for him. He will be without a job in less than a year and he needs a stable income. "Something long term something that's not going to give out in a couple of months or a year and hopefully progress with a good company," Miles said.

John Adams is one of the hundreds vying for a position who lined up in Milton looking for a job.

"Hopefully it's a potential to get back into a secure job and some potential for advancement and get back into some management leadership positions," Adams said. He was employed by Fleetwood, an RV manufacturer. He worked his way up the ladder into a management position but he was recently laid off.

"I'm looking at anything that I can find. I've taken some part-time jobs since I've left Fleetvwood and looking to see what they have to offer here," Adams added. He said he has been searching for jobs for several months. "I've been applying and sending resumes since October. I've had one response through the internet and picking up part-time jobs in between. That's what I have been doing to fill out time. Any opportnity I'm hearing about I'm filling out applications or going to job fairs to see what's available."

The jobs at Moran Industries start at $9.50 an hour. The company said it expects to hire more people in about six months. It will be calling back job seekers within the next few weeks. Adams hopes he will be one of them.
