A dog that attacked two girls in Northumberland County will be put down and its owner ticketed.
Police in Kulpmont wrapped up their investigation into the attack that left one of the girls in critical condition. She has since been upgraded to fair condition.
Neighbors said Amanda Smith and a friend were walking the bull mastiff when the dog became aggressive and turned on the girls. Police said the dog does not have a history of violent behavior. It is being held at the Sunbury Animal Hospital until it is put down
The owner received a citation for failing to keep her dog under control.
