In central Pennsylvania police are searching for the thieves who stole bikes from homeless children in Sunbury.

Eight-year-olds Austin Hoffman and Gabe Baumer are trying to figure out who would steal their bicycles.

"I woke up and all of our bikes were gone and I was like, 'What happened to them?' and my mom and dad said they were stolen," Gabe said.

"I feel angry, sad and surprised all at the same time," Austin said.

The boys said three children's' bikes one were stolen from the Haven Ministries in Sunbury, a homeless shelter where the boys live. The bikes were donated to the boys as a gift.

They said it was the first time they were given a new bike.

"I loved my bike. I got it for Christmas," said Gabe.

"At this point, I just want to get a new bike," said Austin.

Police said the bikes were taken from the back of the facility where they were kept, unlocked.

The director of the shelter said later she noticed four children's' bikes were also stolen, and now all of their bikes will have to be locked up.

"Especially to come on somebody's property, a homeless shelter, and take anything from a homeless shelter because everything is so kindly given from people, that expect it being taken care of and no would be so hideous to do such a thing," said Gabe's mother, Helen Baumer.

Police are accepting donations to help buy new bicycles for the children or you can contact Haven Ministries at 570-286-1672.

Police are also asking anyone with information about the thefts to contact them at 570-286-4587.
