The waves of Great Wolf Lodge's indoor water park are usually reserved for resort guests. However over the next two weeks any family can come and make a splash during the remaining Fall Community Days and help the United Way of Monroe County at the same time.

"The tickets are $25 a person and they are good both on weekends as well as our midweek time frames," said Christopher Salerno Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun.

The United Way of Monroe County and Great Wolf Lodge have teamed up for the Community Days fundraiser for the past four years and have raised upwards of $500,000. This year United Way representatives said the money is more important than ever.

"Right now with the state budget impasse the money that we give these programs is vital and right now some of them are facing possibly closing their doors," said Chris Grape-Garvey, Community Outreach & Special Events director for United Way of Monroe County.

The United Way supports nearly 40 programs in Monroe County and since many haven't received state funding since June, the money from the United Way is what is keeping many of the programs afloat.

"Whether it is a food pantry, or a shelter or maybe a program like Big Brothers Big Sisters that helps children; our programs are being sustained through our United Way dollars and that's why Community Days are so important," said Grape-Garvey.

This year Big Brothers Big Sisters also benefits from the fundraiser. Tickets for Great Wold Lodge's Community Days can be purchased on the United Way's website and can be used until October 16.
