Police in the Poconos are investigating two shootings in two days in one community in Monroe County.

First four people shot at a Halloween party then Monday night there was a drive-by shooting.

While police said they don't believe the two shooting are related, neighbors who live in the Emerald Lake Development where the shootings took place said they are on edge.

"It could have been my child walking home from school at 5:30 p.m.," said Mercedes Rendon. She can't believe someone was shot just down the street from her Emerald Lakes home near Long Pond. It was the second shooting in two days. "I am shocked because my kids have to walk every single day to the bus stop on that road where the shooting happened."

Police said Monday evening a 17-year-old boy, who has not been identified, was riding on his scooter on Glade Drive South around 5:30 p.m. when he was shot in the stomach when someone traveling in a gold Jeep Wrangler opened fire.

The victim was rushed to Community Medical Center in Scranton.

The shooter got away.

The drive-by shooting came just one day after another shooting early Sunday morning in the same development. Four people were wounded at a party on Cedar Drive.

Police said Dheklan John, 22, of Tobyhanna was the shooter. He is charged with several counts of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and more.

While Pocono Mountain Regional Police said they don't believe the shootings are related at this time, the fact that they happened right next to each other is interesting.

"It's unique that it is the same development. We've had shootings that have happened in close proximity time wise but not in the same development or the same circumstances such as this," said Lieutenant Chris Wagner of the Pocono Mountain Regional Police.

Patricia Floris has lived in Emerald Lakes for four years and said she will start looking over her shoulder. "I am really shocked because I come home late at night and it is so quiet so I am really shocked that I hear about this," Floris said.

Police said that the teen shot Monday evening and a victim from Sunday night's shooting are still recovering at the hospital.

Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to call Pocono Mountain Regional Police at 570-895-2400.
