State police are investigating what led to a deadly shooting early Sunday morning in the Poconos. Investigators are not releasing much information about the shooting in East Stroudsburg.

According to the coroner's office, a man was shot on an Interstate 80 on-ramp, then someone took him to the hospital just yards away where he died.

Hours after the deadly early-morning shooting, state police investigators were back on the scene in East Stroudsburg taking measurements on the on-ramp leading to Interstate 80 westbound.

State police are not releasing any details, but according to the Monroe County coroner's office, a man was shot on the I-80 west on-ramp around 3:30 a.m. Someone took him just yards away to the Pocono Medical Center and left the victim outside.

The coroner's office said hospital personnel took the man inside where he died.

Just a short distance from the scene some employees at Unimart said they noticed all the police activity on their way in to work. One employee said he was shocked to hear about the shooting.

"That's surprising. It's a pretty safe community, so it's a big deal that something like that happened. It's pretty crazy," said employee Mohamed Legeli.

State police are not saying what may have led to the shooting and they are not yet releasing the name of the victim.
