Crashes Tie Up Interstates
At least two area interstates are closed after separate crashes.

Interstate 80 west in part of Carbon County was closed between the Hickory Run State Park exit (274) and the Lake Harmony exit (277) because of a multi-vehicle crash. State police said a tractor-trailer driver swerved to avoid a disabled tractor-trailer. The truck went off the road and when it got back on the interstate, it hit another tractor-trailer. The driver of the truck that swerved had to be pulled from his rig. He suffered leg injuries.

The truck spilled its load of orange juice containers onto the highway.

Traffic was detoured around the crash area. One westbound lane reopened just before 2 p.m.

In Lackawanna County the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 were closed for about two hours between the Mount Cobb/Hamlin exit and the I-380/84 split, also because of a tractor-trailer crash. State police said the road was snow covered and slippery when the crash happened.

That stretch of I-84 opened just before 1:30 p.m.
