More information is coming to light about the missing man who was found stabbed to death in the Poconos and the man police arrested for the crime.

It wasn't hard to find people who knew the victim, Michael Goucher one day after he was found dead. They said his death is a great loss for the community.

State police investigators were back on the scene looking for evidence, the morning after Michael Goucher, 21, was found murdered.

"(I'm) just wondering how it could have happened, just terribly shocked and we all still hurt," said Reverend Doctor William Ramsden of Zion United Church of Christ.

He added Goucher started attending the church in Stroudsburg in November but in that short time, the church community got to know him very well.

"He plunged right into our music program. He helped with piano and organ, sang in the choir, played bells. Everybody loved him," Reverend Ramsden said.

Hours after Goucher's body was discovered, Shawn Freemore, 19, was arrested. Police said he admitted to stabbing the victim multiple times after he said Goucher made sexual advances towards him.

According to police papers, Shawn Freemore lives in Upper Rockledge Estates near Cresco. The development is less than a mile from where Michael Goucher's body was found.

Both Goucher and Freemore went to East Stroudsburg High School South and graduated two years apart.

Principal Lois Palio is surprised to hear the two knew each other.

"Shawn was a loner, kept to himself, didn't have many friends," Palio recalled. She added Goucher not only graduated from her school in 2006, but he came back to work there last year as a custodian, after serving in the Army.

"He was an extremely hard worker, very reliable, great personality," Palio said.

The principal added Goucher was a member of the East Stroudsburg Crimewatch Program, and that he wanted to become a police officer.

Shawn Freemore is locked up in the Monroe County jail.
